The market has been active since the opening season for Chilean walnuts at Gulfood in February. Inshell demand has been leaded by India as market of destination, but other markets also are showing dynamism like China, UAE (The Middle East), Morocco and Turkey lately. Thanks to this strong demand prices has increased by 10 cents since February and most April and May production capacity is already committed.
Kernel market usually starts later but there is a big demand for halves from large buyers and that has result in a sense of scarcity of halves for the season.
